About

Jeffrey Stegall, MA, is an Associate Professor in the Theatre Arts Department and teaches a variety of theatre classes including Acting, design, and collaboration. After graduating from Welch College in 1984, he taught high school for a year before attending graduate school at Bob Jones University. Further graduate studies included various theatre courses at The University of Oklahoma and acting instruction at The National Shakespeare Conservatory in New York City. He has also enjoyed continued coaching from theatre professionals in Chicago and New York City. For over 25 years he has been an actor, director, and the principal designer for the University Classic Players and has directed and served as principal designer for the University Opera Association. He has performed many of Shakespeare’s leading roles, directed 70+ programs including plays, operas, vespers, concerts, recitals, and one-man shows, and designed nearly 40 new productions. (Two of the operas he designed received awards from the National Opera Association.)

In addition to his university responsibilities, he is founder and president of The Greenville Shakespeare Company, a local nonprofit organization existing to provide the Upstate of South Carolina with high quality, accessible productions of Shakespeare and other classic works of literature and thereby expand and enhance cultural opportunities in the area; and to share these works of literature with area young people through educational enrichment opportunities as a real-life complement to literature studies; and to provide young artists training/internships.

Jeffrey is married to Kim (Yost) Stegall, a freelance author who writes for the Christian news organization, World News Group, publishers of World Magazine. They have two adult children. Margaret is a 2017 BJU graduate living and working in New York City, and Cole is a junior at BJU studying Computer Science. Jeffrey and Kim attend Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville, SC.
